We arrived late in the day on June 27, a little worn and a little tired, but ready to see what we could in Edinburgh. Our first trek through town was due to a missed bus stop, however, this just created the perfect opportunity to experience the city. With map in hand, no wifi, and only general directions we set off through the city to find our hostel. It’s beautiful near full of old buildings and large structures in the distance, cobblestones under your feet, a sense of history, and the distant smell of the ocean. Even with all the history there are still modern fixtures reminding you it is still very much 2016. On a late night trip to a convenience store we spot graffiti on the old walls. On our morning walk we stop at Starbucks for drinks and free wifi. It’s nice seeing a familiar place that is oceans away from home.; It’s exciting to see the differences and similarities but makes me ready to see more of the city and move forward into Europe. However, for now, we have a Castle to see with only our footsteps to guide us.
By the way watch out for dust and allergies Jessica is over here sneezing up a storm.
Safe travels
Sounds like day 1 was a success. I feel like I’m there with you guys. Hope you have lots of fun.
