Italy has many famous cities with Rome and Venice obviously being two of them, however, he vast difference between the two can only be experienced. After our first incredibly busy and heat filled day in Rome it was nice to decide to just take a train to Venice for the day. At first we were worried, would we be able to see the site’s or what is enough time to go through this well known city? We almost had decided to not go at all, which would have been a huge mistake. Venice is gorgeous, from the second you step out of the train station all you see are canals and peach colored buildings. The floating city is filled with small streets, boats, and absolutely no cars. It is most definitely a location where a majority of the time must be spent walking, and it’s a wonderful stroll. A cool ocean breeze wafts through the city going perfectly with the sunny weather. Although the streets are crowded they never seem too noisy of overly congested, and sometimes you stumble upon a quite square or an empty canal. Venice is a city to get lost in, where you lounge at the edge of a canal dangling your feet over the water or sip coffee while watching the boats go by. After the hectic pace that you get swept away in while in Rome, Venice calls for you to relax and just take a moment to enjoy your surroundings. There are also multiple shops to peruse full of little handmade items or more ornate Venetian mask, and if your hungry plenty of Italian seafood to choose from. It is one of the best places we’ve visited in Italy and was well worth the detour from Rome. It is an understandably magical city, beautiful, old, and just the right size to walk, enjoy, and sail around.
